Welcome!!
Welcome to Harrison Center. I am excited to have you in class for extended high school. In order to ensure your success, please read the following rules and expectations.
Edgenuity is the preferred method to deliver instruction. If this does not work for you please talk to me. This allows you to also work from home and complete all assignments but the quiz. It is highly recommended that you work from home as well, especially if you are struggling to maintain adequate progress. If you are having technical trouble with Edgenuity, while at home, please call 877- 202- 0338.
Attendance:
- On your third absence, you will receive NO credit and all fees will be forfeited. If you leave early it will be counted as an absence.
- On your third tardy, you will receive NO credit and all fees will be forfeited.
- If you are suspended from day school, you are NOT allowed to attend extended high school.
Expectations:
- I expect a respectful learning environment. Please treat others the way you would like to be treated. This includes your teacher, substitute teachers, and your peers.
- Use appropriate language in the classroom/building.
- You are expected to work diligently and quietly each class.
- You will receive one 10 minute break half way through the evening.
Cell Phones:
Cell phones must be off and out of sight.
Computers:
Computers are to be used for official and approved purposes only! Prohibited activities include: listening to music and/or watching music videos, YouTube and other video sites, email, instant messaging, face-time, and any other searches not approved and related to your course assignments.
Plagiarism and Cheating:
- The work you submit for course completion must be your own.
- Plagiarism includes:
o Copying another student’s work or copying from the internet or print sources.
o Cheating, including plagiarism, as well as looking up answers when completing quizzes, tests, and cumulative exams
Smoking:
- Smoking is prohibited in the building or on school property.
Grading: You must get a 70% on quizzes and tests to move forward.
- First Quiz: Will be given automatically and not checked.
- Second Quiz: Will be given automatically. If you have notes, you may ask for a review.
- Third Quiz: Will be given if a 60% was scored on the first attempts, and you can produce notes.
o Failure to achieve a 70% after the third quiz will result in the entire section being reset and you will be required to complete it from the beginning of that section.
- Scores of 60% or greater: You can get a check and you will be told which questions are wrong and given ONE chance to make corrections. Failure to achieve a 70% will result in resetting the section.
- Scores of less than 60%, will be given one opportunity (with no hints) to get to 60%. Failure to achieve a 70% will result in resetting the section.
- Failure to complete the entire course in the extended high school time frame will result in loss of credit for the entire course.
Disciplinary Action:
- Disciplinary action will be taken if needed. Talking, cell phone usage, cheating, and disruptive behavior are some examples of when disciplinary action will be taken. Disciplinary action may range from a warning, to a suspension, to being asking to leave for the evening.
- Damage to computers and/or missing textbooks will result in a grade hold until reparations have been made. Additional disciplinary action may apply.
Feel free to talk to me any time you have questions, concerns, or learning issues.
Remember:
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten. Do something DIFFERENT!
