Getting Started
Warm Up and Instruction
The Warm Up and Instruction components of the course are lecture based. You will have an instructor presenting the information along with a Power Point style presentation. Make sure to listen and watch these components as all quizzes, tests, and the exam will be based on this content.
You are highly encouraged to take notes. They can be either hand written or through the e-note tab found in the upper right hand corner or the screen. *You can use all of your notes on quizzes, tests, and the cumulative final exam.*
Quizzes and Tests
The passing threshold for quizzes and tests is a 70%. If you fail to achieve a 70%, you will need to contact myself or the online student mentor in order to progress. You will be assigned the highest score of all the attempts, even if it is a failing score.
Quizzes
You will have three (3) attempts to complete each quiz. Quizzes are usually 10 questions long and will change with each attempt. You will have 30 minutes to take a quiz. There will be no “checks” given on a quiz.
Tests
At the end of each topic/unit there will be a test to check for understanding and will cover a number of sections. Tests are usually around 25 questions long and you will be given 60 minutes to complete each test. You will have two (2) attempts to pass the test. No “checks” will be given.
Cumulative Final Exam
At the end of the course, you will be required to come to Harrison Center in order to take the final exam, which will be administered on Edgenuity. The final exam is usually around 50 questions and you will be given 180 minutes to complete it. Make sure to bring in all hand written notes as they can be used on the exam (e-notes will be available as well). You will have two (2) attempts to pass the test with at least a 70%; the higher of the two scores will be assigned in the event both attempts are less than a 70%. No “checks” will be given.
Academic Integrity
The opportunity to receive high school credit through an online program is both a benefit and privilege. However, the opportunity to cheat and/or plagiarize course work will not be tolerated at Harrison Center (or by the Port Huron Area School District). Cheating will result in a voiding of the Harrison Center Online contract (signed at registration) and the student will be subject to any repercussion as outlined in the school’s policy and/or the district code of conduct.
Please be honest and complete your own work to ensure your success in the program.
